The word physio is related to nature or natural functions, and the most commonly used term is physiotherapy.   • In 1940’s the treatment primarily consisted of exercise, massage, and traction and soon after, manipulative procedures to the spine and extremity joints began to be practiced.

  • Treatments include breathing exercises, coughing techniques, and chest wall vibrations.

 Neurological

  • The disorders of the nervous system include acquired head injuries, stroke, spinal cord injuries, Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis are addressed in this kind of therapy.
  • Treatments include gait training which aids the patient to walk after sustaining an injury or disability, speech and language therapies, recreation and sports activities and Therapeutic exercises to restore and maintain strength.

Physiotherapists aren’t limited to the rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries, sports injuries and back pain.
